Fashion for Peace

“Fashion For Development and Peace” it is the humanitarian voice of the World Fashion Endeavor.

Its mission is to globally expand the potential power of fashion; as a tool of fighting poverty, further develop economies and implementing Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Business Principles.

From manufacturing to the runway; the handling of fashion goes through the hands of the poorest of the poor as well as the ones most fortunate. Collectively we can work to make the different dimensions of the fashion process more sustainable and fair.  Fashion will make a necessary, deeper impact for the betterment of the world.

Commitment

From the social aspect of the WFO-WFW strategy, we will like to have two main fold objective:

To generate real alternatives of development that benefit the poorest people throughout the fashion industry

To share with the world the most positive aspects of these associated countries within the frame of the Fashion Industry.

The WFW-WFO first objective will promote initiatives that offer the poorest, men and women, real alternatives that enable them to escape poverty, prioritizing initiatives for or under the leadership of women. Specially, those social initiatives related to the world of fashion, a sector that offers an unquestionable potential to generate alternatives for training and job opportunities for the disadvantaged. The WFO is developing a strategic intervention aimed at the creation of microcredit programs, school workshops and social cooperatives, among other initiatives.

To achieve our second goal, we have a team of professionals in the world of communication that allow us to generate photographic and audiovisual reports that have a high impact on Western societies through our partnerships with media groups at local, national and international levels.

In this matter, WFW and its affiliated organizations such as WFO World Fashion Organization. raise global awareness of the United Nations Missions, such as the UN Development Program, the UN Global Compact and its universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, as well as UNIFEM for gender equality and the empowerment of women, and the Grameen Foundation, working under the philosophy that was proposed more than 30 years ago by the Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus in Bangladesh, especially targeting and empowering women and their capacity to successfully manage this aid, as motors of their societies.

Environmental Commitment

WFO focus in one current and universal concept, the field of sustainability in the face of the many problems that lie ahead for the entire planet, such as mounting demographic pressure, worsening environmental decay, enormous imbalances in the distribution of wealth in a global society, and growing concern for the well-being of future generations. WFO promote a culture of sustainability, aims to bring differentiated value to the dissemination of the culture of sustainability in the fashion sector all over the world.

•To fostering and contributing to the inclusion of sustainability concepts at the fashion industry, and raising awareness of sustainability among collectives that, over the long and medium terms, are likely to have an important impact on sustainability.

To contribute and support the innovation in sustainability, helping to disseminate this kind of innovation, especially in the fashion sector, achieving results in the commitment of individuals and society as a whole.

The WFO plans to acknowledge, recognize and publicly spread the efforts of those fashion companies and businessmen who strive to achieve excellence in the following areas: Management and eco-efficiency and developing renewable energies and sustainability.

Special consideration will be given to initiatives or clean technologies that stand out in particular for their innovation, originality, projection and environmental benefits.

“Lasting peace cannot be achieved unless large population groups find ways to break out of poverty, and Grameen provides a proven strategy to empower the poorest of the poor, consequently advancing human rights around the world”

-  Mr. Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Price Winer 2016
